BBQ, barbecue, barbeque, Bar-B-Q … which is correct? Pick one and use whichever you like. They all refer to the same thing. There may be disagreement about this for generations. People don’t agree on its origin, so they can’t agree on a definition. Type of fuel, cooking temperature, whether to use a rub, sauce or marinade, and, yes, whether to use aluminum foil or not, are just a few possible variations. It’s kind of like politics, depending on who you talk to, you can’t win an argument.

One option is to simply buy a disposable grill whenever you need one. There are a variety of types including simple braziers, hibachi grills (which are a step up from braziers), and the classic American-style, kettle grill. Additionally, these grills are easy to clean, and therefore popular with both domestic and professional users.

Barbeque rubs can be used on meats that are baked, smoked, grilled or simmered in a small amount of stock to create a delicious meal that anyone is sure to love. These herbs and spices, as well as others, stimulate digestion, hydrochloric acid production, and, last, but not least, the taste buds and sensors. The palate won’t know what hit it! Hot, sour, tangy, spicy, sugary – these are all flavors that you can control when creating a homemade barbeque rub. The art of barbeque rubs is too broad to be covered in this short space, but it’s worth noting that the application of the rub is just as important as the composition of the ingredients.

About this time of year, people are fed up with being cooped up inside all winter and are ready to see the light of day again. To make sure your bbq grill internal oven temperature is truly 325° do not rely on your built in oven temp meter rather use an oven thermometer that either sets on or hangs from one of the oven racks. But, you don’t want to just invite people over without some scheduled events do you? And if they are coming over for a spring kickoff, then you don’t want to just play games or chat inside right? Another good option is a game called cornhole. Cornhole is a game similar to horseshoes or washers where you pitch 1 pound bags filled with corn at a wooden platform with a 6 inch hole towards the top.

Many of us are happy with just cooking out for our family, but including neighbors, friends, and coworkers can also be an equally enjoyable time. Proper planning helps to ensure that your party will turn out the best that it can be. Of course, the main feature of BBQ’ing in ones backyard is grilling the meat and adding the sauce. Make sure to prepare the side dishes either the day before, or the morning before the event.
